OEL : Organic Electro Luminescent displays were introduced to the world by Pioneer in 1999, and headunits have never looked the same since.OEL displays, featured in select Premier and Pioneer models, have some intensely great advantages over normal displays namely :

- You can read the display from wide angles and even in bright sunlight (what a concept!). - Since it’s easier to read, it’s also easier to control, and you can keep your eyes on the road longer. - It’s a self-emitting device, so there’s no need for backlighting and it’s really efficient to operate, power-wise.

In addition, Pioneer OEL displays offer the ability to customize your own display, and Soft Key operation makes the headunit way easier to control. Here’s more on those two features:

Personalize your display: Several of our OEL models have the advanced ability to display your own personalized screen savers! First, you select JPEG, BMP, or PNG image files, or even animation files and digital movies (AVIs), from your PC and create your own graphics.

Soft Key: fewer buttons, better control: Pioneer took advantage of OEL’s superior visibility by designing in Soft Key operation, which creates simple titles above the headunit’s main function buttons. This allows each of these buttons to have multiple functions, which you can tab through quickly. Example: titles for Sound Field Selections such as “Club” and “Studio” appear over buttons used for selecting a sound field. And over those same buttons, you can see titles for Main Screen Selections such as “Audio” and “Title”. With these large button names, it’s easier to find the right button while you’re driving, and your display is less cluttered.
